Aluminum Oxide (popularly known as sapphire) with chemical symbols of al2o3 is being used in a variety of applications in various industries - from jewelries to decorative materials; but, more than that, sapphire has been found as of great value in a number of non-ornamental applications such as in infrared optical components, scientific instruments, and electronic wafers, used as an effective substrate insulator.



Many are technologies available in the market today that process sapphire into an array of purpose. In this particular article, however, we put the focus on Acubath XE - a tool that was engineered by IMTEC Acculine, a company based in U.S. This equipment is used in sapphire etching process. Here are some of its capabilities that users can benefit from:



Designed to take the heat. This technology was designed to accommodate chemistries of extreme temperatures; the liquid inside the Accubath Xe comes in contact with nothing but high purity quartz. It has what they call Aquaseal (patented) as well that ensures that heat does not spill out into the environment, in case there is a failure in the critical seal component.



It features Auxiliary Module. This module is designed to hold chemistries of high temperature bound for disposal before they are finally thrown out into the environment. The module allows them to cool, with the help of its quartz cooling coils, before the are thrown away. Indeed, there is nothing to worry about working with chemistries of extreme temperature using the system.



Sapphire - the most well-known oxide ceramic material



Aluminum oxide is highly regarded as one of the most popular oxide ceramic materials and this is because of the following characteristics:



- Recognized as a material with high electrical insulation property



- Depending on the level of purity, it has a moderate to extremely high mechanical strength (from 300 to 600 MPa)



- Very high compression strength (from 2,000 to 4,000 MPa)



- High hardness



- The thermal conductivity is from 20 to 30 W/mk



- It is highly-resistant to corrosion and wearing



- It has a good gliding properties



- Low density (3.75 to 3.95 g/cm^3)



- It handles temperatures from 1,000 to 1,500 degree Celsius.
